Parent Participation

As you are aware, the Parent Participation Program plays an integral part in the operation of the school.  The aim of the program is to create a spirit of community among families and staff working closely together to provide the best education for our students.  A minimum of 5 hours, out of the 40 hours, must be volunteered in fundraising events.

  • Parents doing yard supervision for the year are exempted from this requirement.
  • Your time sheets for recording your participation hours are submitted bi-monthly.
  • As part of the Parent Participation Program, the parents of each class take on the responsibility for one school function each year:

To ensure consistent playground supervisors, it is required to commit to one shift per week for the entire school year (September to June).  It is a very important job for the safety and happiness of all of our students!  With consistency the children will be able to develop a structured and comfortable relationship with the supervisors.

It is required (not optional) to attend a safety workshop in September facilitated by the Principal and the playground coordinator.  Because of the importance of this job, playground supervisors will not be required to do the mandatory 5 hours of fundraising but instead will be joining a team of committed playground volunteers.

Tabulating Parent Participation Hours

Managing Parent Participation Portfolios

Note:

  • Mayfair is a parish activity.  Hours volunteered in the Mayfair, although greatly welcome, are not part of the Parent Participation Program.
  • It is the responsibility of parents participating in the Parent Participation Program to return the Time Sheets bi-monthly so their volunteer hours can be tabulated efficiently.  Don’t wait until the end of the school year to do the volunteer hours or to submit the time sheets.
  • PPP hours are tabulated on a school year basis only, from July until the end of June.  Hours may not be carried forward to the following year.
  • Cheques of parents who have not completed their parent participation hours will be deposited on the second Friday of June, unless other arrangements have been made with the school office.  Parents will be reimbursed for hours completed.
