  • Guided reading sessions to develop reading strategies
  • Shared reading to develop a community of readers
  • Independent reading to build fluency and practice reading strategies
  • Reading conferences with teacher to monitor growth
  • Literature circles and reader response activities to develop critical thinking skills and oral language competency
  • Literacy centers to expose students to a variety of multi-sensory experiences
  • Reading informational texts to teach skills in handling content area material
  • Writing workshops to provide opportunities in writing for different purposes
  • Home reading assignments to build independent reading skills and develop fluency
  • Oral language activities (e.g. poetry recitation, speech delivery, storytelling, presentations, debate, discussion)

We believe in assessment driven instruction; thus we continually observe and monitor each child's progress as we strive to develop individuals who are critical thinkers, proficient writers and capable speakers.
