Emergency Preparedness Program
It’s not something we like to think about, but knowing your role in an emergency is necessary to mitigate panic and confusion and to keep our families safe. ICS has a 39-page plan that is reviewed and updated yearly, which outlines what we do in case of an emergency.
Some components of the ICS-EPP are:
- Yearly risk assessment of the school’s building, equipment, and grounds and execution of these recommendations.
- Emergency Drills: several fire & earthquake classroom drills and one emergency release drill during the school year.
- Checklists & procedures for school staff and Emergency Response Team volunteers.
What you can do!
- Don’t call the school in case of an emergency to keep telephone lines open.
- Update your emergency contact information regularly.
- Prepare comfort kits & discuss them with your children.
- Have a Family Emergency Kit and discuss & practice your emergency plan with your family.
- Get your First Aid Certification.
- Volunteer to be on the ICS Emergency Preparedness Team.
