Our family has been very fortunate to be part of the ICS community since kindergarten. Whenever someone asks where our son attends elementary school, we’re always proud to tell them about this special little blue school. As parents of a hard-of-hearing child, it was especially important to us to find a school that was inclusive, supportive, and understanding. ICS embraces all these qualities. I still remember attending an open house night and immediately feeling welcomed and encouraged. I left that evening hopeful that this might be the right choice for our family — and it truly was.
From the administrative staff to the teachers and principal, everyone radiates warmth and genuine care. What stood out to us was the willingness of the teachers and educational assistants to collaborate closely with parents and resource professionals to support a child’s individual needs.
Even before kindergarten began, the learning support teacher and classroom teacher took time to meet with us to better understand our son’s hearing loss and discuss ways to support him in the classroom. That level of care made the transition into kindergarten much smoother and gave us real peace of mind. Now in his final year at ICS, we look back with gratitude for the strong foundation the school has provided, both academically and within a faith-based learning environment.
ICS has been more than just a place of learning. It’s a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to grow in mind, heart and spirit. Through meaningful experiences like the buddies’ program, peer helping, being part of a sports team, singing in the choir, and participating in Mass and various faith events, our son has grown in confidence, leadership, and developed a strong sense of belonging.
The sense of community at ICS is one of its greatest strengths! School events and faith celebrations bring staff, students and parents together to create a warm and supportive environment. Students are eager to take part and proudly engage in every opportunity, while parents are actively involved and deeply connected to the life of the school. That shared involvement creates a positive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and included.
As our son prepares to move on to high school, we are deeply grateful for the care, faith and encouragement he has received throughout his years at ICS. The school has made a lasting impact on our family, and we will cherish being part of this caring community.
