Help Immaculate Conception School revitalize our schoolyard!
For nearly a century, Immaculate Conception School has been a pillar of education and faith in our community. Our “little blue school” has fostered both academic and athletic excellence while instilling values of service and integrity. ICS is a special place and truly a “second home” for so many students and staff.
But like any beloved home, even the most special places show signs of wear over time. While the heart and spirit of ICS remain strong, the outdoor space, our schoolyard, needs attention. In its current state it looks more like a parking lot than a play space. It’s time we give our students a schoolyard that reflects the vibrant, caring and dynamic community they’re part of every day.
As we near the 100th anniversary of our school, we are launching an ambitious initiative to revitalize our schoolyard and create an outdoor space that encourages play and movement for ICS students.
This revitalization project will retain the two existing playground structures while providing the following updates to the school yard:
Site levelling and resurfacing to ensure even pavement across the schoolyard and proper drainage to eliminate pot holes, cracks and areas prone to ice.
Installation of high-quality rubber playground surfacing in both the primary and intermediate playgrounds to provide a safer environment, and remove the mess and upkeep of bark mulch.
A new outdoor classroom and amphitheatre seating for outdoor learning and gathering spaces for both students and parents.
New court lines and playing spaces, including two new basketball courts, which will give more students the chance to be active and creative in how they play.
Our goal is to start and complete this revitalization project over the summer of 2026 and have it ready for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
The current cost estimate for this project is just shy of $1,000,000. ICS has currently raised two thirds of this fundraising goal, but we have a long way to go if we want to bring every aspect of this design to life – and that is where we need your help!
How You Can Help
We are seeking government grants, corporate/business sponsors, and philanthropic donations to help us bring this vision to life. Your support through donation will create a lasting legacy for the students at ICS and generations of students to come. Donations will be eligible for tax receipt.
